No installer, on purpose
XiangqiPlay is a progressive web app. That means the browser installs it for you: it gets a real icon, opens in its own window with no address bar, and keeps working when you lose signal. There is no setup file, no app-store account, and no update to remember — it refreshes itself the next time you open it with a connection.
Android
Chrome, Edge, Samsung Internet
- Open xiangqiplay.online in the browser.
- Tap the ⋮ menu in the top-right corner.
- Choose “Install app” or “Add to Home screen”.
- Confirm. The icon appears on your home screen like any other app.
iPhone & iPad
Safari (required — iOS only allows installs from Safari)
- Open xiangqiplay.online in Safari.
- Tap the Share button — the square with an arrow pointing up.
- Scroll down and tap “Add to Home Screen”.
- Tap Add. It opens full-screen, with no browser bar.
Windows
Chrome or Edge
- Open xiangqiplay.online.
- Click the install icon at the right-hand end of the address bar — a screen with a downward arrow.
- Click Install.
- It gets its own window, a taskbar icon and a Start-menu entry.
Mac
Chrome, Edge or Safari 17+
- Open xiangqiplay.online.
- In Chrome or Edge, click the install icon in the address bar. In Safari, choose File → Add to Dock.
- Confirm.
- It lands in the Dock and runs in its own window.
- Is there a Xiangqi download for PC?
- No installer, and none is needed. XiangqiPlay runs in the browser and installs from it as a desktop app on Windows and Mac — its own window, its own icon, no setup file and nothing to keep updated by hand.
- Is there an APK?
- No, and you should be wary of any site offering one. Install it from the browser on Android instead — you get the same app, the same offline play, and no sideloading.
- Does it work offline?
- Yes, once installed. Games against the computer, the rules and saved games all work with no connection, because the engine runs on your own device. Online play, chat and the leaderboard need a connection, since they involve other people.
- Is it free?
- Free, with no account required to play the computer. An account is only needed for online games, rating and tournaments.
- How much space does it use?
- A few megabytes. It is a web app, not a native binary, so there is no multi-hundred-megabyte install and no app-store account.
